Since today's job market is constantly changing, there is a high likelihood that the career in which you first started out won’t be the same career you will be working in future years. There are both advantages and disadvantages in a number of current industries and career trends. For example, many industries now are sending work overseas. Even if you work in the IT industry, your job may no longer be entirely safe from outsourcing.
Finding a job in a particular field can create its own set of challenges. Often there are more people interested in a particular career area than open positions. Some careers can be in high demand while others may not offer enough employment opportunities. For this reason, it is helpful to have some idea about which careers offer plentiful prospects and which offer few.
Did you ever think about all the things that you do not learn in college? You work through your studies in anticipation of the day when you will enter the workforce to begin a long and prosperous career. But finding a job may not be as simple as that. You may graduate college only to find that there are not a lot of opportunities for jobs in your chosen field.
Even when you are able to find a job in your particular career area, you may not necessarily be set for life. Sometimes the demand for certain job positions declines over time. Changes in the economy can affect a variety of career choices; therefore, you may very well find yourself out of work at some point in the future. Other times, you may work at a company, which then decides to send operations overseas.
Yet career options are not as bleak as it might sound. The point is that when you are looking for a job, you really need to be prepared for the possibility that things may not go according to plan . Even after you find a job, situations always do not remain the same. That is why it is important to be aware of the possible disadvantages of a variety of different career fields.

The Rich, Taxes, and Why it Just Doesn’t Matter
The recent “cone of silence” presidential debate raised the question of what income level constitutes being “rich” in the U.S. The problem with that question is that it’s a regional issue, not a national one. The cost of living in New York City is a little bit different than the cost of living in
High Credit Scores Give Consumers and Job Seekers Leverage in a Weak Economy
As the economic climate continues to get worse for most working Americans, debts are mounting along with the overall cost of living. It’s tempting in times like these to let a payment slip on a credit card or simply overlook a few months of cable bills, since you know it takes them awhile to actually
Real Estate Market, Like the Economy, is in the Eye of…
What, no great ending to that simile?
I’ve mentioned before that I am, among other things, a real estate investor. It’s part of my job, or what I “do” for a living. Though it is not my primary profession - at least not yet - it does occupy a fair amount of my time and produces
Weekend Fishing, Pygmy Goats and General Friday Nonsense
I can’t say that this post will relate to employment in any way, but I’ll try…
Thus far today I’ve done very little work myself, instead spending most of my time gathering fishing equipment, putting some 6-lb. test on my girlfriend’s light-action fishing rod, packing a bag and doing some laundry. That’s “kind of” working, but
When Time is Limited, Priority is Everything
When faced with a time crunch at work or at home, whether it’s a major project deadline or just getting some things done quickly, prioritizing your objectives is the first thing that must be accomplished. Without the proper order of your tasks, it is likely that you will get bogged down in areas that are
